CAPITAL Volunteer Spotlight: Hollie's Story
As part of Volunteers’ Week, we’re celebrating the incredible people who give their time, energy and kindness to support others across CAPITAL.
Hollie has been volunteering with CAPITAL for around three years. Her journey is a powerful reminder of how peer support can help people grow in confidence, find their voice and go on to support others facing similar challenges.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to Hollie for everything she contributes to our groups, events and community.
From Member to Volunteer
“Hi, my names Hollie I volunteer with capital project trust.
I’ve been with capital for around 3 years now but I began as a member the quiet, shy girl hiding in the corner, but with the help of the volunteers they helped me to realise I wasn’t going to be judge and they were going to be there every step of the way.
When I was finally gaining my confidence, we had many conversations about me becoming a volunteer and helping run the groups, there’s been many hurdles along the way but I did it!”
Growing in Confidence
“Now I’m running groups with Tabi, Helen and thanks to the support of Tabi, Helen, Heidi and Duncan this past weekend 23/05/26 I helped run out capital stall at Chichester pride I’ve now found the confidence to stand and discuss with total stranger what we do as a charity how we do things and the fact that I’m confident in doing so.”
Why I Volunteer
“The whole reason I began volunteering was because I wanted to be able to support people the way I wasn’t supported.”
Thank You, Hollie
Hollie’s story reflects the heart of peer support. By sharing her experiences, supporting group members and representing CAPITAL in the community, she is helping others feel welcomed, understood and valued.
Thank you, Hollie, for your dedication, courage and commitment to supporting others. We are incredibly grateful to have you as part of the CAPITAL volunteer team.
Thank you Hollie!
