Introducing CAPITAL Connections🎙️: A Podcast Bringing Lived Experience Voices to Life
At CAPITAL, everything we do is rooted in lived experience, community, and connection. Now, we’re bringing those values to life in a brand new way.
We’re excited to introduce CAPITAL Connections – a new podcast created by the community, for the community.
Born out of collaboration between our dedicated volunteer podcast team and the wider CAPITAL network, this podcast is more than just a series of conversations. It’s a space for honesty, reflection, and real stories that are too often left unheard.
Why CAPITAL Connections?
Mental health conversations are everywhere – but not everyone gets to be part of them.
Too often, voices within mental health systems are overlooked, unheard, or spoken for. CAPITAL Connections exists to change that.
This podcast is built on a simple but powerful idea: the people with lived experience should be at the centre of the conversation.
Through open and thoughtful discussions, we aim to:
-
Amplify voices that are often unheard or underrepresented
-
Challenge stigma and injustice within mental health systems
-
Raise awareness through real, lived experiences, not just clinical narratives
-
Create a sense of connection and shared understanding
A Safe Space for Honest Conversations
We know that talking about mental health can be complex and sometimes difficult.
That’s why CAPITAL Connections is intentionally designed as a safe, supportive space, where people can speak openly about their experiences while feeling respected, heard, and understood.
From navigating NHS services to personal journeys of recovery, each episode will hold space for stories that matter, handled with care, sensitivity, and authenticity.
Bringing CAPITAL to Life
This podcast is also about bringing CAPITAL itself to life.
It reflects the heart of what we stand for:
-
Co-production
-
Peer support
-
Community voice
-
Advocacy for change
By sharing real experiences, we hope to strengthen understanding, build trust, and inspire meaningful change within mental health services and beyond.
A Platform for Change
CAPITAL Connections isn’t just about conversation it’s about impact.
We believe storytelling can:
-
Influence how services are designed and delivered
-
Highlight inequalities and power imbalances
-
Advocate for a more compassionate, inclusive mental health system
This is about shifting the narrative and making sure those with lived experience are not just included, but leading the way.
