Please note these changes from 1 April 2025 to Shout Services in Sussex

From 1 April 2025, people in Sussex texting SUSSEX to 85258 will be connected to a qualified mental health professional for free, 24/7 support. This enhanced service offers real-time, text-based help including crisis intervention, emotional support, safety planning, risk assessment, and signposting to local services like Staying Well and the Stay Alive App.
Previously supported by trained volunteers, the upgraded service ensures all texters are connected to a professional within 15 minutes. If someone is at imminent risk, clinicians can escalate to emergency services directly.
Since its launch in Sussex in July 2022, over 1,800 people have used the service—mainly for low mood, suicidal thoughts, and stress. The aim is to provide faster, more tailored support to anyone, of any age, facing mental health challenges.
Please note the changes to the SHOUT services - ensure that you are using the local keyword 'SUSSEX' to 85258 (rather than Text SHOUT to 85258) to ensure you access the right support.
