CAPITAL began as a grassroots mental health charity, built by people who’ve experienced mental health challenges themselves and our mission remains the same: to make sure no one struggles alone.
Our team is (and always has been) entirely made up of people who have lived or living experience, something unique to CAPITAL.
We believe in the power of peer support: real people, shared stories, genuine understanding and kindness.
That trusted connection is at the heart of everything we do. With your support, we can keep offering safe spaces, hope, and community to those who need it most.

Why Your Support Matters
Since 1997, CAPITAL has been at the forefront of lived experience peer support across West Sussex. We bring together people with firsthand mental health related experiences to run community groups, shape services, deliver training, influence policy, and offer hope and solidarity.
Our values guide us always: we champion connections, equality and authenticity.
We believe everyone deserves to be heard, treated with dignity, and supported, not judged. We fight stigma, advocate for better services, and build communities of care where people genuinely belong.
Reently, we have lost 80% of our funding, entirely removing independant peer support workers on inpatient wards in West Sussex. This has been a devastating loss, and we are facing serious risk of closure even after redundancies.
Our community hubs, groups and events have been forced to rely completely on unpaid volunteers so the costs of materials, transport and room expenses are what we are actively seeking funding for to keep these vital lifelines available.
By supporting CAPITAL you help:
- Keep peer-led support available
- Support community and belonging
- Shape mental health services to be more inclusive
- Give people the chance to recover, connect and rebuild together and at a pace that suits them

Support While You Shop – via Easyfundraising
Do you shop online? Perhaps you order your weekly groceries, or just buy a yearly insurance policy? Perhaps your employer buys office supplies online?
If so, and you’re looking for an easy, no hassle way to raise money for CAPITAL, easyfundraising is it!
Easyfundraising is a platform that supports charities by partnering with over 7500 of the UK’s best known brands to donate a percentage of what their customers spend to their favourite causes.
All you need to do is sign up to the easyfundraising website, follow their step by step instructions to open an account, and then choose CAPITAL as your favourite cause to support.
As well as making a donation for your favourite charity each time you shop, you’ll also earn a stamp on your easyfundraising loyalty card. Once your card is full, you can enter the monthly draw to win a £3000 donation to your cause.
Once you’ve signed up, you can download the browser extension which will let you know that there is a donation available every time you browse a partner site. If you use your mobile phone, you’ll just need to remember to visit easyfundraising first, click on the partner you wish to purchase from, and you’ll be taken through to their own website where you can shop as usual.
Your purchase will be tracked in your easyfundraising account, where you can see how much you’ve raised for CAPITAL, alongside updates on when we receive your donations.
Payroll Giving – Donate Directly From Your Salary
You can donate to CAPITAL through your weekly wages or monthly salary; enabling us to support even more people with mental health challenges.
Not only is it easy to set up, but you also pay no tax on your donation!
All you need to do is speak to your employer’s HR or payroll team, who can add you to their scheme for the next available pay run. If they don’t already have one, they can contact one of the government approved Payroll Giving Agencies to sign up. (Some agencies charge an administration fee that will be taken from your payment. If this is the case, and your employer doesn’t cover the payment for you, you can always contact us to make a direct monthly payment, with no charges, if you’d prefer).
Your company will give you a Donation Choice form to complete, which will ask which charity you’d like to support. You will need the following information if you’d like to support us.
CAPITAL
Charity number 1087420
Your donation will be deducted from your wages or salary each time the payroll is run. The payment is sent by your employer to the Payroll Giving agency, who then forward it to us for use in our work.
CAPITAL Giving Lottery
You can enter a draw to win 25k whilst supporting CAPITAL!
You can buy tickets from £1, it couldn’t be easier! It’s a chance to give back while getting something in return. Half of the proceeds go straight to funding our community work, so every ticket helps, whether you win or not.
