A Different View - 10 Week Creative Courses

2 May 2023

For adults living with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or a history of psychosis, in Crawley and Littlehampton

We are very pleased to announce that we will be collaborating with Recovery Partners to offer A Different View; a series of free ten-week creative courses for adults living with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or a history of psychosis.

The first courses will run from June to August in Crawley and will focus on photography, video, zine making and journalling.

The courses combine creative tasks with peer support for people living with serious mental illness – and there are opportunities for group and one-to-one mental health peer support throughout the courses, delivered by fully trained peer support specialists.

The community arts and peer support project aims to connect people with their wider community, engage them in fulfilling activities, inspire hope and engage people with the outdoors, by using local green spaces and the coastline.

Each ten-week course will include:

  • Eight professionally facilitated photography and video workshops

  • An online artist’s talk

  • A visit to a gallery

  • Zine making and journalling activities

  • A gallery exhibition and online exhibition of work produced during the project (if people would like to participate in this)

All equipment for the project will be provided free of charge.

There will be two groups of six adults working together in Crawley. Each group will be running for 10 weeks from Wednesday 7 June to Wednesday 9 August 2023 – with the first group meeting from 10am to 12.45pm and the second group from 1.30 to 4.15pm.

The first courses will take place in Crawley, but there are plans for courses in Littlehampton later in 2023.

You can refer yourself for this group or you can be referred by a mental health professional you are working with.
